I am not a fan of martin nievera. And in fact I hate him and how he sings. However, when he sang the Philippine national anthem for manny pacquiao’s game, I felt proud for the guy. He gave his all complete with the philipine color inspired ear piece and a Francis Magalona 3 stars and a sun shirt! Then the next day, I see on the news about an NHI personnel who is planning to fine and jail Martin! Fucking crap! How could he think of such thing! What hypocrisy! The hoopla is even close to biblical! The NHI guy reminds me of the Pharisees. Following thousands of written rules but totally missing the real point why there were laws. Jesus came and summarized everything in two. Love God with all your heart and all your soul and love your neighbor as you love yourself. And there are many ways to show love for God and neighbors. The point in the case of Martin is to show love for Country. Which I Believe he did so effectively in his own way. He hit the point. He showed his love for our country, his nationalism in his own way. The NHI guy is so Pharisee for me. So engrossed with his rules and laws but totally missing the point. Missing the point why we sing our national anthem.

Manny is definitely the greatest source of pride among Filipinos nowadays.  Yesterday as I was watching him deck out Ricky Hatton, It felt so great to be cheering for his side.  The crowd of 7 at our house was very ecstatic and energized.  I cant imagine the feeling to watch him together with thousands of people in public gyms, city halls and various venues!  The air could have been very different!  The buzz, the shouts, the cheers and of course the smell!  hahaha!  But we are Filipinos right?  What the hell!  We love being in crowds!  As one girl summarized it yesterday when she was interviewed on TV “WOW ANG SARAP MAGING FILIPINO!”  You are so right girl!  Ang sarap maging Filipino!  

However, our amazement with the success on the Pacman should not end up just being our pride.  Let Manny be our inspiration.  Despite his many shortcomings he has emerged to become the greatest!  All of us are not created equal.  Manny is not a perfect person.  We all know about it and sometimes we laugh about it.  However, he focused on a direction to become a boxer.  His success did not happen overnight.  He worked hard for it.  He started out as a nobody.  He trained hard and fought hard!  However, he suffered losses but he did not quit!  He got back on his feet again and regained his composure.  Manny also learns from his mistakes and making sure he does not commit the same thing again.  Manny also listens and does not pretend to know it all.  He has his Roach for a coach and he listens.  The more he climbs the ladder to the top the more he listens and solicits more advises.  He listened to Michael Moorer his assistant coach in his fight for Hatton.  But the best that Manny has that we should have is his unshakeable faith in God.  Manny prays before he goes to battle and most importantly connects with God even after all the buzz and commotion when he wins.  This is a very astounding trait as normally, you will be very self absorbed with your success when you win or achieve something great.  On the contrary, Manny shuts out the world, kneels down and give thanks to God!  AMAZING!

Personally, I really hate kidnappers to the bones.

The Abu Sayyaf group have again established to the rest of the world what they really are.  They are just a bunch of bandits and savages.  They do not resemble at all to any kind of rebel or freedom fighter.  They are a bunch of trash.

Kidnapping people from the Red Cross will bring major disadvantage to the separatist MILF, MNLF and the rest of the Muslim Filipinos that are and will be victims of war.  So, if the MILF or MNLF are in their right frame of mind and if their cause is to really help the Muslim Filipinos, they should help in rescuing the Red Cross people Swiss national Andreas Notter, Italian Eugenio Vagni and Filipina Marie Jean Lacaba.

Kidnapping teachers like Quizon Freires, Rafael Mayonado and Janette de los Reyes will only worsen the already bad educational situation in Filipino Muslim areas.  Teachers definitely wouldn’t want to be assigned in any place that will endanger their lives.  So, if there will be no teachers, nobody will teach our little Filipino Muslim kids.  So, uneducated Filipino Muslim kids will turn out to be useless, destructive, unproductive Filipino Muslim boys and girls.  In short…. Abu Sayyafs.

This is a very scarry situation as this could end up in an unending cycle of misery.  Nobody will teach, children will become ignorant, ignorant adults become savages, savages kidnap teachers, teachers wouldn’t want to teach…. and again the cycle starts all over.

This really is pointless.  The government and legit Muslim Freedom fighters should do everything  in their power to stop the Abu sayyaf.  

The Government and legit Muslim Freedom Fighters must seek a unified solution to the problems in Mindanao.  A separate state is not a solution.  The solution is ONE PHILIPPINES.  ONE STRONG NATION.  LOVING ONE ANOTHER.

“RP Eyes Obama as Savior of OFW’s”  That is what I saw today in the Inquirer.  I did not bother reading the full text though.  Anyway, the header speaks about it quite what its all about.

Yeah, it could be.  But I hope we learn not to trust our fate in other people’s hands.  Its as if our cry is always “SAVE ME!!”  Let us not rest our hopes and aspirations on other people.  Let us be the captain of our lives.  If being an OFW turns out to be sour this time, lets work our way out.  By ourselves.  It’s pretty lame to wait for things to happen and have Obama help us or let our funny government help us.  This funny government that we have can only do so much.  Don’t expect anything from anybody to give you a crap.  Well and good if somebody will lend us a hand.  Accept it.  But to ask…  that is just plain silly.  Stand up Pinoy and work!

Raul Gonzalez has all things messed up. I fully understand how a head of a department would feel if his organization is under stress. He would try to defend his group. But he has to do it discretely. Right now he is acting like a stupid child. Raul, I would like to call him by first name as I have lost total respect to the dude is crazy. He is definitely destroying the lousy governments war against drugs. In the first place the war against drugs is weak and here comes Raul the dude who is really trying to pull out all the teeth of an old ailing dog.

I really am an ignorant person with regards to the law but It seems so clear for me or any other lay person that he is defending too much his people. Hmm…. there must be something going on…. This is so classic Mafia history.
Drug busters vs. Druggies. Druggies are released because they have friends in the justice department… Druggies get bolder, drug busters live a miserable life. Very classic story!

Anyway, if Raul is as smart as he claims he is. He should not let his mouth get the best of him.

First day of work for some for 2009 but not for me.  First day of work for somebody who worked for the government and first hour in the morning he called me up and asked.  ” Meron pa ba tayo dyan?”   

I asked myself, why are we like this?  Why are we such a bunch of beggars?  I tried to look at it in a balanced point of view and saw that it could be good in the survivalist sense.  We ask and thus we receive thus we survive.  This could be the reason why we survive in the harshest conditions life might throw us.

BUT, life is not supposed to be like this.  We should live life as a higher form.  Not living a life of some poor parasitic louse!

I have always ranted about love of country.  I have come to senses that another thing that we definitely need to restore or drum into the minds of our children is PRIDE. 

Teach it in schools!

We need this to strengthen our sense of worth.  We are a wonderful people but we put down ourselves and always think that other people are better than us.  We have to believe in ourselves first then we can believe in our fellow Filipino.  We can make it.  I know.

If there are just 3 things that any public school may teach, it should be math, sense of pride and love of country.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!!  I pray for success to all Filipinos.  

Well,  its been a very long holiday this time for some of us.  However, I am working.  A lot of people are also working.  Not that we have a cruel boss or we are workaholics.  It is a necessity.  I just can not understand our present government.  Declaring such a very long holiday.  They say so that people can rest.  But can we really afford to rest??  A world faced with economic problems and recessions and here the Filipinos are resting because the government says so.  Is this the best economic plan?  Work = profit = economic stability.  Is that hard to understand?  Well if the people from the government want rest, well give them rest.  Most of the Filipinos really can do better without them anyway.  You have been resting anyway since forever while us the people from the private skin our ass to the bones working paying taxes while you sit on your pretty pretentious government desk chatting with your fellow government worker.  Splurging our hard earned taxes and not even lifting a finger to help us when we are on que at your worthless office just to get some really worthless requirements that dont really hold any use(ie: cedula).  I’m sorry, I got carried away.  

Anyway, a lot of businesses are suffering due to the holidays.  Businesses need banks.  Banks are closed.  Except for maybe BDO.  This bank knows business.

Also, a lot if not the majority of the Filipinos are working for the informal sector.  Meaning, farmers, laborers, piece workers… And the rest of the masses.  These are the people that cannot afford long holidays.  You can not say to a piece of agri product, “please don’t rot, the businessman that will take you is closed for the holidays.”  And for the laborer who is payed by the day who is also earning just enough for the day.  Can he say to his wife and children ” Babe and kids, please dont eat for the week.  I don’t have work because our boss is on holiday.  ok?”  Also for the garments worker, can she say ” Sorry dear husband, please don’t eat because our factory is closed.”  This is what is really happening beneath the bright and happy surface of HOLIDAYS!
